The Maternal & Child Health Support Initiative 2026 was implemented to improve equitable access to quality maternal and child healthcare for vulnerable families facing financial hardship in Warri, Delta State, Nigeria. Implemented at Central Hospital, Warri, Delta State, Nigeria, in collaboration with the hospital’s leadership and healthcare professionals, the project was designed to reduce financial barriers to essential healthcare services, promote safe motherhood, strengthen maternal and newborn health outcomes, and improve community health awareness through integrated medical, financial, and educational support.

As part of the intervention, the Foundation fully settled the outstanding medical bills of 30 hospitalized children and 30 mothers, ensuring that access to essential healthcare services was not delayed or denied because of financial constraints. By removing these financial burdens, beneficiaries were able to focus on treatment, recovery, and the wellbeing of their families.

Recognizing the financial challenges associated with childbirth, the Foundation also provided financial assistance to 80 antenatal women to help cover delivery-related hospital expenses, including women already scheduled for Caesarean section (C-section) deliveries. This support enabled expectant mothers to access skilled maternal healthcare with greater dignity, confidence, and peace of mind during one of the most critical stages of pregnancy.

To promote healthier outcomes beyond childbirth, the Foundation distributed essential postnatal care packages to 60 postnatal mothers, providing practical resources that supported maternal recovery, newborn care, and healthier post-delivery outcomes.

The project also strengthened community health awareness through interactive maternal health education sessions covering pregnancy, safe childbirth, newborn care, breastfeeding, nutrition, and preventive health practices. To encourage active participation and reinforce learning, 20 participants who demonstrated exceptional engagement during the maternal health education activities were recognized and received financial support.

Through this integrated intervention, the Foundation directly reached and supported more than 220 mothers and children, improving access to essential healthcare services, reducing financial barriers to safe childbirth, strengthening maternal health knowledge, and contributing to healthier families, stronger communities, and more equitable health outcomes.
